This paper suggests that gestural activity with a handheld device can realize complex modes of sonic interaction in the augmented environment, resulting in an enhanced immersive game experience. Existing ARAG implementations have focused on exploring the surroundings and navigating to virtual sound sources as the main mode of interaction. It features artworks in photography, video and installations created by Greek and international artists.Īugmented Reality Audio Games (ARAG) enrich the physical world with virtual sounds to express their content and mechanics. The second one, “Body Esc”, aims to induce a brief reflection on the meaning of the body in the digital and biotechnological age. The first of these includes scientific presentations through posters and is organized by the Ionian University in conjunction with the A-Club of the Planetary Collegium, Plymouth University. Organized within the framework of the 2nd International Interdisciplinary Conference “Taboo-Transgression- Transcendence in Art and Science”, by the Ionian University, two exhibitions were integrated in the program of the 11th Audiovisual Arts Festival. One step further, one more time, knowing that the truly opening dimension might be towards the voyaging of consciousness. It is dedicated to all those who keep pushing the limits further than the next gadget and understand the essential role of fantasy when synchronized with reality. This year’s conference is inspired by the work of the pioneers who challenged the linear thinking towards spatial arts and time-based media and the ones who were able to transcend the illusion of reality and the confines of technology. The conference focuses: a) on questions about the nature of the forbidden and about the aesthetics of liminality - as expressed in art that uses or is inspired by technology and science, b) in the opening of spaces for creative transformation in the merging of science and art. TABOO - TRANSGRESSION - TRANSCENDENCE in Art & Science The Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University organizes for the second year in a row the interdisciplinary conference “Taboo - Transgression - Transcendence in Art & Science”, including theoretical and artwork presentations. Finally, we present a logical approach to the hyperspatial audio system based on these characteristics and describe an interactive installation art on acoustic hyperspace. Furthermore, we describe the characteristics of hyperspatial sound based on scientific discoveries. The interaction between artists and the world of science, as well as the intuition which forms an integral part of Art, have both been a decisive source of inspiration. Focusing on Varèse, we proceed to a concise historical retrospective of the efforts to approach fourth dimension through music. The audio 'visualization' of hyperspace may result in a better outcome, perhaps due to similarities between sound and hyperspatial gravitational waves, or even because the corresponding audio centers in our brain are better suited for perceiving hyperspace. Many efforts have been made to perceive hyperspace through vision. Higher dimensions have been and still are the object of study and source of inspiration for many artists and scientists. Man perceives three dimensions but this does not necessarily exclude the existence of higher spatial dimensions, also known as 'hyperspace'.
